MANILA, Philippines - The builder and concessionaire of the 84-kilometer North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Manila North Tollways Corp. (MNTC), is staging a travel fair in Manila to send its hordes of tourists flocking up north. “NLEX Tara Na Sa Norte 2013” is slated on July 12-14 at the Atrium, Robinsons Place, Manila

The NLEX Tara Na Sa Norte Tourism and Travel Fair is being organized by the MNTC to help the northern regions promote their destinations and attractions.

The fair, according to MNTC vice president for marketing Renato Ticzon is co-presented by the Department of Tourism (DOT) and its northern regional offices covering Pangasinan and Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

The DOT northern regional offices will have their individual booths in the fair to showcase their most attractive tourism destinations and attractions.

“The four regions hold some of the country’s most diverse natural wonders, historical structures, cultural treasures and traditions, which will be featured in the exhibits offering affordable tour packages and services, discounted airfares, travel and leisure destinations, indigenous products, souvenir items, and arts and crafts, all to be made available to Manila’s 22-million population,” Ticzon said.

To get them entertained are special events such as corporate game shows, raffle draws of airline tickets and other gift certificates from hotels and resorts, tourism quiz bee, marketing and product presentations, and cultural shows.

Invited to join the NLEX Tara Sa Norte are North Philippines tourism destinations, hotels and resorts, airlines and air alliances, retirement villages, themeparks and amusement centers, travel agencies and tour operators, travel magazines and publications, tourism boards, souvenir shops, and national and local government agencies, among others.

The exhibitors include Air Asia, Microtel Inns and Suites, Fersal Hotel Group, Philippine Retirement Authority, Punta Riviera Resort, Dinoisland/Clarkland, Puerto del Sol, Azalea Residences, Java Hotel, Plaza del Norte, NEEDCO, EM Leathercraft, Terrace and Bayfront Hotel, Subic International Hotel, Treetop Adventures, Lighthouse Marina Resort, Subic Travel Hotel, and Dasoland, Tarlac Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Nueva Ecija Convention and Visitors Bureau, among others.

The trip to North Philippines has vastly improved with the completion of the NLEX and the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), consequently increasing the volume of domestic and foreign visitor arrivals in the region and making it the country’s next most attractive tourism destination.

The fair is sponsored by the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority and Maynilad Water Inc. and is supported by Robinsons Land Corp. and the North Philippines Visitors Bureau.
