Local designers give Noynoy a hand

Rhett Eala

Yoga jacket (left) in yellow cotton lycra with black zipper and track pants for when Noynoy travels around the Philippines. M.J. jacket in nylon with black piping and ribbed waist and wrist for rainy days in Manila

Randy Ortiz

Shirtjack Filipino/ Cuban inspired guayabera in lemon (Cory yellow) cotton linen fabric with scattered embroidery plus pintuck detail and khaki/pale brown linen pants to match that Noynoy can use for his provincial sorties during the election season. To make him look more distinct, I’m adding a straw (buri) hat with black band to match the look. It’s very Pinoy Perfect for comfortable hot campaign activity. An option also would be a guayabera in black because he’s still in mourning for his evening functions.

For formal wear, black Wayfarers as glasses. Using the   philosophy “nerdy-cool” I would suggest a black suit which is slim fitted, with narrow lapels and narrow shoulders. For non-formal function, yellow rolled up shirt, but with a more fitted shape. Small embroidered monogram. Slimmer shapes and a more fitted overall appearance, however keeping still a relaxed vibe. Black slim-cut jeans

For Noynoy, I choose a piña pleated jacket made of piña with piña suksuk to give it a modern look, but still global Pinoy. Regular black woolpants.

Since the Aquino family is still in mourning, I’m working on mostly blacks and grays. I’m making slimmer shirts and suits, shirts meant to be untucked for ease with pin tucks and piping details and suit jackets with very slim shoulder pads. I’m also suggesting bowties, channeling a bit of President Quezon and John Lloyd.
