MANILA, Philippines – The biggest month in fashion ended with a bang as Manila’s most influential celebrated the exclusive launch of Swedish watch brand Daniel Wellington last Sept. 30 at BGC’s new hipster addition, Unit 27 Apartment Bar+Café.
DW Founder Filip Tysander named the brand after his inspiration, an acquaintance from the British Isles with impeccable style and a love for vintage watches with NATO straps. Today, Daniel Wellington is one of the fastest growing watch companies in the world, selling over two million units since it was founded in 2011.
Daniel Wellington currently enjoys social media-blockbuster fame due to its 1.4 million loyal followers on Instagram and over 300,000 photos posted under the #danielwellington hashtag. It came as no surprise that Manila’s top bloggers and social media influencers, such as Mikyle Quizon, Arisse de Santos, Patrick Sugui, Tracy and Steph Ayson, AJ Dee, Paul Chuapoco and Patricia Prieto came to celebrate the brand’s arrival in Manila.
An Instagram contest was announced by host Tim Yap and VIPs gathered at the flat-lay station where they combined a number of items relevant to DW’s themes of travel, beach, dapper and urban to create DW-inspired images with their preferred timepieces.
The brand’s latest models, including the recently added Dapper collection, which is available in rose gold and silver, were on display for guests to try on. The Classic, Classy & Grace collections proved to be a hit with Jessica and Steph Kienle, Bb. Pilipinas-Universe winner Pia Wurtzbach, Danes Lee, Mike Carandang, Asia’s Next Top Model finalist Katarina Rodriguez, upcoming stars Christian and Jesse Perkins, and ABS-CBN’s Martin del Rosario.
