MANILA, Philippines — A father and daughter wowed the crowd at the recently held AsiaPOP Comicon Manila 2018 with their cosplay of Marvel characters Thanos and young Gamora.
The faces behind the cosplay were real-life father and daughter, Wreidyl and Shay Denorte.

Wreidyl has been cosplaying since 2007. He shared that he chose Thanos for this year’s AsiaPOP Comicon because it is a really challenging character to design.
Thanos and Gamora are Marvel Cinematic Universe characters who both appeared in the first installment of “Guardians of the Galaxy” as well as “Avengers: Infinity War.”
“And recently he's become really popular because of the success of 'Avengers: Infinity War' movie. Since my daughter has become comfortable in wearing costumes already, we thought of doing little Gamora for her costume so we could do our first ever cosplay pair together in an event,” Wreidyl told Philstar.com in an online interview.
“I always attend and cosplay at APCC every year so [I] thought this would be the best pop culture event to showcase our costumes,” he added.
According to Wreidyl, he and his wife made their costumes as they both share the hobby of cosplaying. He said he and his wife met through cosplaying.
Wreidyl and Shay’s Thanos and little Gamora costumes were mostly made of Eva foam and leatherette freehand they built from scratch.
He said Thanos' face was 3D printed while the Infinity Gauntlet is a Hasbro Marvel Legends replica.
The father and daughter pair cosplay earned praises from netizens and attendees of the APCC over the weekend.

“We are really happy and overwhelmed at the positive feedback and my daughter enjoyed the event after,” Wreidyl said.
This is not the first time Wreidyl and Shay cosplayed together.
Wreidyl said Shay’s first convention was in ToyCon 2016 when Shay cosplayed as Movie Wonderwoman along with him as Batman and his wife as Wonderwoman.
The Denorte couple started dressing Shay up with a Wonderwoman baby costume a few months after her birth. She just turned three last July 17.
