A night of music and fashion

The Chaine des Rotisseurs Bailliage de Cebu recently hosted a “Diner de Gala”  at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel. The gastronomic, strictly formal event  brought together enthusiasts who share the same values of quality, fine dining and the pleasures of the tables.

At the helm of the festivities were the husband and wife team of Michel Lhuillier, Honorary Consul of France in the Visayas and  Bailli Delegue of the Chaine des Rotisseurs for the Philippines  and Amparito, Bailli de Cebu.

As guests arrived at the hotel  lobby in their finest evening gowns and perfectly tailored suits and barong tagalogs, they were welcomed by dozens of petite ballerinas twirling in their tutus.

The food and beverage team headed by Joward Tongco prepared a delightful champagne reception and oyster bar at the foyer before the formal sit-down dinner at the grand ballroom.

Creative and vibrant  executive chef Stefano Verrillo together with his team prepared a most enjoyable  seven-course meal featuring specialties such as smoked mackerel, fillet of salmon beautifully wrapped in very thin slices of potato, tournedos of beef, flamed cheese and festive kirsch tart for dessert.

The dinner also illustrated the meaning of being a member of the Chaine, friendship, companionship, warmth and love of excellent wine and great food.

Throughout the evening, the entertainment was varied. Robert Seña, an awardee as Best Singer in theater category in the Tinig Awards rendered a selection of classical and contemporary songs. He was joined by  equally talented singer,  TV and theater actress and wife Isay Alvarez. The multi-awarded Mandaue Children’s Choir also fascinated the guests with their unified  angelic voices.

Fashion designer and founder of AD models Dexter Alazas, presented his one-of-a-kind creations that got the nod and applause of the guests.

Members expressed their thanks to Hans Hauri, general manager, Marco Polo Plaza and his able team that included  hands-on hotel manager, Julie Najar,  innovative events and promotions manager, Joseph Chiongbian,  and the entire kitchen brigade who were responsible for organizing this marvelous affair.
