Condo dwellers compete in DMCI Homes sportsfest

MANILA, Philippines - Basketball teams from 15 DMCI Homes condominium communities renew their rivalry and camaraderie in the fourth annual DMCI Homes Inter-community Summer Sportsfest that kicked off recently. DMCI Homes Property Management Corp. VP Anna Marie Ferrer officially opened the only property developer-initiated sportsfest at the company’s corporate office on March 15 with teen and adult players living in DMCI Homes communities around Metro Manila in attendance.

“Sports in not always about beating a rival, rather maintaining the values of respect and camaraderie while working hard towards a goal—a value we proudly instill in our DMCI Homes communities,” she said.

The sportsfest also fulfills DMCI Homes’ objective of giving homeowners a sense of identity and belongingness to a DMCI Homes community, according to Senior marketing manager Jan Venturanza.

â€œWe like the members of the different communities to know each other and share their experiences even if they live in different locations,” Venturanza said.

This year’s sportsfest is until June and has 14 teams competing in the senior division and eight teams playing in the junior division.

The senior division group A consists of teams from Cypress Towers, East Ortigas Mansions, East Raya Gardens, Magnolia Place, Riverfront Residences, Royal Palm Residences and Rosewood Pointe. In group B are teams from Cedar Crest, Mahogany Place 3, Morning Sun Townhomes, Ohana Place, Vista de Lago, and the new entrants, Rhapsody Residences and Siena Park Residences. The Junior Division teams are East Raya Gardens, Magnolia Place, Riverfront Residences, Royal Palm Residences, Rosewood Pointe, Cedar Crest, Palm Grove Residences and Rhapsody Residences.

Tournament co-commissioner Rod Nepomuceno told players and coaches that the new game format is more exciting. “We changed the rules so you will not lose energy and continue to fight instead of defaulting. This year, you work hard to get the best record but even if you’re losing, you still have a chance to reach the semifinals and finals.”

In last year’s sportsfest, the team from Cypress Towers topped the junior division while East Ortigas Mansions won the championship for senior division winning trophies, medals and cash prizes.
