Bonsai & suiseki show ongoing

MANILA, Philippines - The Bonsai & Suiseki Alliance of the Philippines Inc. launched the 2012 National Bonsai & Suiseki Show and Competition yesterday and is ongoing until May 14 at the Flower Garden of Quezon Memorial Circle in QC.

The show will have a marketplace where ornamental and tropical plants, related products, bonsais, suisekis and many more will be on sale. The marketplace is adjacent to the show venue.

There will also be seminars starting today until May 13. Today, seminars will be on bonsai, and bonsai branching techniques by Li Tiong Hong; May 6 — on-the-spot painting contest, bonsai demo and penjing demo by Robert Stevens; May 7 — basic bonsai by Al Villareal, bonsai challenge by the Allied Bonsai Clubs; May 8 — Zen garden by Vic de Rona; May 9 — indoor and vertical landscaping by Met Metilla; May 10 — PAWD cities regulations by DENR representatives; May 11 — use of gamma rays in plant variety development by Fernando Aurigue; May 12 — innovative bonsai by Met Metilla; and May 13 — guide on selection and appreciation of suiseki by Elmer Villareal.
