Unilever Food Solutions trains chefs from Iloilo and Boracay

MANILA, Philippines -Unilever Food Solutions (UFS) brought its globally successful Chefmanship Academy to over 130 participants from hotel and restaurant operators in Iloilo and Boracay last July 9 and 12. UFS intended this program to help chefs and restaurateurs better their tradecraft and business skills. The training sessions were led by UFS executive chef Joanne Limoanco-Gendrano and her sous chef Carlos Aluning.

Being the first food service company in Southeast Asia to offer a regionally developed roving training service for chefs and operators, UFS intended this program to help make global and regional techniques and modules available to the local chefs and restaurateurs of the Philippines. With over 130 participants from hotel and restaurant establishments from Iloilo and Boracay, UFS hopes that the resulting learnings and insights will help the chefs continuously shape the dining landscapes of their respective provinces to better fit the needs and cravings of not only locals but also the thousands of new tourists that travel there each month.

The Chefmanship Academy sessions consisted of training modules about proper Menu Planning and Counting Costs, sharing global and local food trends, as well as live cooking demo that showed how the theories learned from the modules can be applied in the kitchen every day.  Both modules are meant to develop not only the chef’s culinary skills but their business skills as well.
