Feeling bullish about The Stock Market

There’s a different kind of stock market that drives investors, yuppies, and those passionate about something yummy crazy. But this time, you won’t hear them haggling over the phone, yelling “sell, sell, sell!” At the Stock Market, people gather with their family and friends not to trade but to savor and enjoy good food that’s “delightfully fresh.”

“Delightfully fresh” is how one would describe the new The Stock Market, which recently opened under the management of The Bistro Group of Restaurants, the same company behind the success of Italianni’s, TGI Friday’s, Fish & Co., Flapjacks, Krazy Garlik, Pig Out, and Billy Rock.

“The Bistro Group took over the restaurant from Del Monte Philippines on Jan. 15, 2011. We closed the resto for 15 days to do minor renovations and to craft new items on the menu,” explains Paul.

pineapple everywhere you set your eyes on.

The interiors lend a homey feel to the setting. The warm lighting and the cozy, relaxing atmosphere add to the delightfully refreshing vibe. The green, beige, and brown hues of the walls and the furniture pieces give the place a stamp of cool.

In less than three months after the renovation, The Stock Market was ready to serve families and business executives alike at the ground floor, Quadrant 3, Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

Freshness Guaranteed

In the US, the stock market refers to a marketplace where the freshest produce can be found. Well, this is the new credo of the revitalized The Stock Market.

“The Stock Market offers an eclectic selection of simple yet flavorful dishes that accentuate the use of fresh ingredients,” notes Paul Manuud, VP, Bistro Group.

The garlicky and buttery escargot (lump vineyard snails) served on miniature ramekins and the salmon and spinach dip (four cheeses blended with shards of salmon) served with toasted Tuscan bread are the best way to perk up your appetite.

Those who prefer something light and refreshing can indulge in the Harvest Salad, a mix of romaine lettuce with candied walnuts, fresh fruits, and pineapple wedge tossed with pineapple vinaigrette dressing.

For the mains, just look for the dishes with the pineapple icon on the menu and you’re definitely in for a gastronomic treat.

The roasted pork short ribs top my list. The slow-roasted ribs are flavored with black peppercorn sauce and served with mashed potatoes, cherry tomatoes, and green beans. The meat is flavorful and oh so tender (you can cut it with a fork)…enough to make you forget about your diet plans.

Burger munchers shouldn’t miss the Angus burger with grilled pineapple. This 1/2 pound US Angus beef patty is packed into a thick burger without extenders so each bite is guaranteed pure meat bliss.

Veggie diners aren’t left out at The Stock Market. Feast into the Cioppino seafood stew. A dish that originated from San Francisco, the stew has a tomato-based sauce with fish and shellfish. It comes with Tuscan toasted garlic bread for dunking!

The kids can gorge on Mac & Cheese, lollypop chicken, spaghetti and meatballs, and honey chicken fingers.

“The menu wasn’t radically changed. We maintained the concept of the resto, but tweaked some of the dishes to give them a yummy twist,” adds Paul.

Cap your meal with the Pineapple Fruit Boat, which is one- half slice of fresh Del Monte pineapple “boat” loaded with assorted fresh fruits served with whipped cream on the side. But for a quick sugar fix, indulge in Eton Fluff, a heavenly mix of fruits in crème fraiche with bites of light meringue.

It’s A Cool, Cool Summer

At The Stock Market, diners are spoiled for choice — from the appetizers to the main courses down to desserts. But what tickled our palate was the extensive and interesting beverage list, which boasts carefully-thought-out of drinks that are not just thirst-quenchers but good for the body, too.

Who would have thought that celery could be so addictive? The Stock Market’s Celery and Pineapple Crusher is a refreshing mix of blended celery and pineapple guaranteed to cool you down. Also try the Tropical Spritzer, Surfing Cucumber, Malunggay Citrus, and Ampalaya Cooler.

“The Stock Market’s juice bar introduces your kids to the yummy world of veggies in the form of drinks,” enthuses Paul.

There’s also an ice cream and yogurt bar by the entrance so kids can have a heyday choosing what flavors to try and indulge in.

Located at the heart of Bonifacio High Street, The Stock Market is a place where you may want to begin or end your day, relishing delightfully fresh fare.
