Victoria Beckham, Elle Fanning and Childish Gambino all know that in Tiffany & Co.’s new collection Tiffany T, the “T” stands for tremendous.
Beckham accessorizes her sleek outfits with Tiffany bracelets, Fanning likes stacking the diamond-studded T rings on her fingers, and Gambino, aka actor/rapper/DJ Donald Glover, totally rocked the T-link bracelet during the 2019 Grammy Awards, where he was nominated five times and won four. The gold of his Tiffany T jewelry definitely reflected victory.
“I wanted to create a symbol for modern life and its relentless energy that flows through New York and drives art and culture around the world,” says Tiffany design director Francesca Amfitheatrof. Tiffany T is her first line for the venerable company. “This is just the beginning of what I hope to accomplish.”
The ultra-modern collection is bound to become a new icon for the house that made its name with Tiffany diamonds and the robin’s egg-blue box. Personally I’m jonesing for Tiffany T because the graphic “T” could stand for my first initial, but I’m finding out that “T” also stands for “travel” and “travelers.”
Amfitheatrof took the power, energy and daring of Tiffany’s home base, New York City, and captured it in the graphic “T” symbol. The line is also an ode to the world’s great cities, and global travelers who appreciate art, culture, and appreciate a bit of edge.
A trained jeweler and silversmith, Amfitheatrof found her own edge in the house’s archival sketches and the sheer lightness of Tiffany design. She also made sure to stay true to the spirit of American design, while taking a bold approach to Tiffany traditions and the house DNA.
Tiffany artisans translated Amfitheatrof’s brilliant play on angles and curves to 18-karat rose, yellow and white gold and sterling-silver pieces that are sculptural, architectural and sublime. Minimal bracelets and monumental cuffs perfectly contour the wrist. Multiple chains of varied lengths and elegant pendants drape the neckline. Rings stack seamlessly and the earrings move gracefully. Altogether, Tiffany T is a rich mix of options that you can mix and match to create your own modern, personalized look.
Stonesetters chose the finest diamonds and glowing gems for Amfitheatrof’s striking debut as Tiffany’s design director. They sparkle like the jewel-like towers and pinnacles of the New York skyline rising in the night sky both terrific and utterly tremendous.
