Award-winning Filipino sculptor Ed Castrillo dies at 73

MANILA, Philippines - Philippines has lost another artist as Eduardo Castrillo succumbed to death, Wednesday.

The tragic news was confirmed by a message posted on his Facebook account, informing everyone about his demise.

 

Castrillo, who studied Fine Arts in the University of Sto.Tomas is a primed sculptor known for his brass and metal works. He is the artist behind the People Power Monument along EDSA and the Pinaglabanan Shrine.

Castrillo, a multi-awarded nationalist sculptor, is known for his legacy of cultural heritage monuments that embody the identity of our nation.

His last social media engagement was on election day, May 9, when he posted a photo of his sculpture in EDSA, accompanying it with a message about democracy, freedom and values.

 

The wake is set at the Artist's studio until Monday, following his interment Tuesday.
