Lyceum-Batangas marks 43rd foundation day

MANILA, Philippines - The Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU)–Batangas recently celebrated its 43rd founding anniversary with various activities.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the Provincial Inter-High School Competition. Participants battled it out in the essay writing, oration and declamation, general information, math and science, information technology quiz bee, and song and dance competitions.

LPU-Batangas also crowned this year’s Mr. and Ms. Lyceum — engineering student John Michael Morales and nursing student Mary Monique Rosebel Fajaro.

The other winners were: Ray Medina (Business & Computer Management) and Marlyn Armamento (Liberal Arts), first runners up; Darren Jo Esmade (International Travel & Tourism Management) and Engelyn Campomanes (International Hospitality Management), second runners up; Jason Caro (Nursing) and Precious Kasielyn De Chavez (Information Technology), third runners up; and Nilo Boy Buenafe (Criminology) and Katherine June Samson (Medical Technology), fourth runners up.

The board of judges was composed of Akbayan Party-List Representative Risa Hontiveros, Miss Philippines Earth 2009 Sandra Seifert, 2009 Binibining Pilipinas finalist Vanessa Johnson, singer/model Lloyd Zaragoza, Lyceum of the Philippines-Laguna marketing officer and varsity coach Michael Sydiangco, and Dr. Eddie Bool.

The pageant was directed by Eric V. Orolfo, cultural affairs director of LPU-Batangas. Lani Mercado-Revilla graced the event.

LPU-Batangas recently received the autonomous status from the Commission on Higher Education. The university is also ISO 9001:2008 certified by Det Norske Veritas, and enjoys the Level III status of accreditation from the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) for its Accountancy, Business Administration, Liberal Arts & Nursing programs.
