Ex-San Beda cager JV Gallego killed in car accident

MANILA, Philippines -- NCAA champion JV Gallego has died after figuring in a car accident. He was 28.
According to a report, the incident happened in the early morning of Saturday along NLEX.
The car of Gallego, a white Honda BR-V, was traversing the northbound lane of the expressway when the incident happened.
His car rammed into the concrete barrier situated at Libtong exit.
The report said that the driver and the passenger, Chloe Carillo, were rushed to Meycauayan Doctors Hospital, but Gallego was declared dead on arrival.
Gallego’s management, VP Global, mourned the death of the guard.
“Beyond the basketball court, JV will be remembered for the life he lived, the people he touched, and the legacy he leaves behind,” it said in a Facebook post.
“Our heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to his family, friends, teammates, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him,” it added.
“Rest in peace, JV. You will be deeply missed.”
The San Beda University Alumni Association also sent condolences to the family of Gallego, who was described as a “proud Bedan and Champion Red Lion whose passion, determination, and love for San Beda inspired both on and off the court.”
“Though his life was far too brief, the legacy he leaves as a student-athlete and member of the Bedan family will always be remembered. May the Lord grant him eternal rest and bring strength and comfort to his family, teammates, friends, and loved ones.”
Gallego won a championship in the NCAA Season 99 with the Red Lions.
