DPWH transparency portal unveiled

MANILA, Philippines — Admitting the lack of transparency in procurement processes, President Marcos yesterday launched what he described as a “digital wall against corruption,” providing information on ongoing public works projects and enabling citizens to monitor biddings and report anomalies.
The Department of Public Works and Highways Transparency Portal (transparency.dpwh.gov.ph) is among the reforms aimed at addressing the problems revealed in the recent flood control controversy, the President said.
The website provides public access to information on DPWH projects dating back to 2016.
“One of the things that emerged clearly from the investigation is the absence of transparency. People did not see what was happening inside the government,” the President said at a press conference.
“Nobody reported them because they were not seen. The wrongdoers were able to conceal their acts because ordinary people or even officials were not able to monitor them,” he added.
Marcos expressed hope that the transparency portal would restore public confidence in the government.
The website was developed with the support of private technology partners and the Philippine Space Agency.
Marcos said the Social Security System and Philippine Health Insurance Corp. will also roll out similar transparency platforms.
He encouraged the public to actively use the portal, saying it is more comprehensive than the Sumbong sa Pangulo website.
