Marcos trust, performance ratings up; Sara’s down – OCTA poll

MANILA, Philippines —  President Marcos obtained higher trust and satisfaction ratings in the latest survey conducted by the OCTA Research group.

In contrast, Vice President Sara Duterte saw a slight drop in her trust and satisfaction ratings.

From 60 percent in April, the President’s trust ratings improved to 64 percent in the survey conducted from July 12 to 17.

Some 20 percent distrusted the President, down from 23 percent, while those who were undecided decreased from 18 percent to 16 percent.

The President’s satisfaction rating also improved from 59 percent in April to 62 percent in July.

Those who were dissatisfied with his performance hardly changed from 20 percent to 19 percent, while those who were undecided dropped by two points from 20 percent to 18 percent.

The survey was conducted weeks before Marcos’ fourth State of the Nation Address.

It was also conducted before the Supreme Court released its decision declaring the articles of impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte as unconstitutional.

Sara’s ratings

Trust in the Vice President dropped from 58 percent to 54 percent, while those who distrusted her increased from 19 percent to 23 percent.

The remaining 23 percent were undecided, almost similar to the 22 percent in the April survey.

Based on the results, satisfaction with Duterte also dropped six points, from 56 percent to 50 percent.

Those dissatisfied with her performance increased from 20 percent to 23 percent, while a quarter of the respondents or 25 percent said they were undecided, up from 23 percent.

Escudero, Romualdez

Senate President Francis Escudero, who retained his post in the 20th Congress, saw his trust ratings dipping from 55 percent in April to 51 percent in July.

Those who were satisfied with his performance also decreased, from 53 percent to 49 percent.

Meanwhile, Speaker Martin Romualdez obtained higher trust and satisfaction ratings. From 54 percent in April, those who trusted the Speaker slightly increased to 57 percent.

His satisfaction ratings also improved from 55 percent to 59 percent.

The OCTA survey had 1,200 respondents and a margin of error of plus/minus three percent.
