Duterte house in Davao for sale?

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Has the house of former president Rodrigo Duterte in Davao City been sold, or is it up for sale?
Questions regarding the property, located at Doña Luisa Village Phase 1, mounted as a “House & Lot for Sale” sign, reportedly put up by Duterte’s common-law wife Honeylet Avanceña, was seen on Saturday but was no longer visible yesterday.
According to reports, Davao City Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte, who is acting mayor following the incarceration of his father, had the sign removed. His sister, Vice President Sara Duterte, is opposed to the sale.
In the past few days, there has been a change of security guards at the property. It has also been padlocked in front, while the back portion has been covered with galvanized iron roofing marked “The East Village of DGT (Davao Global Township) Live Amazing.”
Newly built and painted structures can be found at the back of the property.
Before, a few old police cars were parked at the back of the house. Now, new sport utility vehicles owned by Cebu Landmasters, which owns DGT, can be seen there.
The property is part of Doña Luisa Village, not the East Village of DGT.
Realizing that Duterte won’t be home in the immediate future, Avanceña confirmed to dzRH on Saturday about the decision to sell, as well as undisclosed security concerns at the house, which necessitated the installation of security equipment.
“It pains me every time I go there. I’m the only one who visits there now. There are four househelp but with no master. We abandoned it after what happened,” she said.
“I cannot sleep there anymore because the lawyers asked us to install CCTV – even inside the bedroom,” Avanceña added.
The house has seen a flock of Duterte supporters keeping vigil ever since the ex-leader was arrested and jailed in The Hague last March for alleged crimes against humanity.
Meanwhile, Vice President Sara Duterte, despite acknowledging that she doesn’t have any stake at the property since it belongs to her father and Avanceña, wished that it be opened to the public instead.
“For people to see where the former president lived, where he slept or ate,” the Vice President said.
Residents in the subdivision have reportedly complained of the noise and filth left by Duterte supporters who have previously gathered around the house.
Avanceña did not disclose the asking price for the property.
