MANILA, Philippines — Filipina athletes Hidilyn Diaz and Alex Eala were featured in a United Nations exhibit showcasing the excellence and achievements of women in sports all over the world.

The United Nations Office at Geneva’s photo exhibition titled “Not a Woman’s Job?: Breaking Barriers in Sports” held at Palais des Nations featured photos of women athletes who have made history and contributed to breaking barriers in sports, including action shots of Olympic gold medalist weightlifter Diaz and champion tennis player Eala.

“The Philippine government will continue to advocate for inclusion and gender equality in sports,” Consul General Felipe Cariño III said.

“Our well-admired athletes such as Ms. Diaz and Ms. Eala have convinced the Philippines and the international community that we must fully support women in sports,” he added.

Diplomats, officials from the UN and the International Olympic Committee, and sports enthusiasts paid tribute to women athletes whose dedication contributed to women empowerment, challenging gender stereotypes in sports.
