MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) reported over 16.1 million subscriber identity module (SIM) cards registered as of yes-terday, indicating a smooth implementation of the SIM Card Registration Law.

Based on records provided by the National Telecommunications Commission, there are now 16,150,926 cards registered, which is 9.56 percent of the 170 million SIMs nationwide.

Smart Communications Inc. reported a total of 7,584,321 SIMs registered, Globe Telecom Inc., 7,137,764 and DITO Telecommunity Corp., 1,428,841.

Globe reported that its operations for SIM card registration have yielded 99.69 percent success rate, with 7,173,255 cumulative successful registrations.

Globe, along with the rest of the country’s public telecommunications entities, said public telecommunications entities (PTEs) are continuously addressing user-related and system con-cerns to secure a seamless and convenient registration experience for end-users.

DICT Undersecretary and spokesperson Anna Mae Lamentillo said the PTEs are continuously improving the process to ensure a smooth registration experience for end-users.

The DICT also encouraged the public to register early and avoid last-minute registration. Filipinos are also reminded to be vigilant as they complete the process.

“We encourage all SIM subscribers who have not yet registered their SIMs to register already with their PTEs to ensure that their SIMs won’t be deactivated. If there are glitches or technical issues during registration, please report these through hotline 1326. We also remind everyone to register only through the official platforms provided by the PTEs,” said Lamen-tillo.
