Duterte appoints Nograles as Civil Service Commission chairman
MANILA, Philippines — President Duterte has appointed Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles as chairman of the Civil Service Commission (CSC).
Duterte approved the ad interim appointment of Nograles on March 4. If confirmed by the Commission on Appointments, he will serve as CSC chairman until Feb. 2, 2029.
Nograles, who also serves as acting presidential spokesman, replaces Alicia dela Rosa-Bala, who retired last Feb. 2.
Nograles has served as Duterte’s Cabinet secretary since 2018, replacing Leoncio Evasco Jr., who resigned to run for Bohol governor in 2019.
He became acting presidential spokesman in November last year after Harry Roque resigned to run for senator in the 2022 elections.
Nograles is also the co-chairman of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.
Communications Secretary Martin Andanar reportedly will fulfill the role of presidential spokesman in the remaining months of the administration.
