MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) yesterday urged the public to report rude police officers manning checkpoints to secure community quarantine areas.

PNP deputy chief for operations Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said the police force will never tolerate policemen who are not observing proper decorum and courtesy in dealing with people.

“Report them to us,” Eleazar said during a Laging Handa briefing.

PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa earlier warned policemen they would face sanctions if they are found not observing proper decorum when implementing quarantine protocols.

He gave the warning after receiving complaints that some policemen were arrogant when interacting with the public at checkpoints or quarantine control points.

Eleazar said they have yet to receive reports of policemen who have been arrogant to people.

He said erring police officers could face either suspension or dismissal from the service if they are found guilty of the offenses.
