MANILA, Philippines — The remains of one of two overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) killed in a Singapore car crash last Sunday have arrived in the country.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), through the Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs (OUMWA) and its consular office in Angeles, Pampanga, received the remains of 50-year-old Arlyn Nucos at Clark International Airport in Pampanga on Wednesday evening.

Her remains were brought home by her sister-in-law, who is also an OFW in Singapore, and received by her siblings.

The DFA said a simple ceremony and mass were held in Singapore before Nucos’ remains were flown to the Philippines.

The Philippine embassy in Singapore is still coordinating with Singapore authorities for the repatriation of the remains of the other Filipina, 41-year-old Abigail Danao Leste, who was also killed in the car accident at Lucky Plaza last Sunday.

Nucos and Leste died on the spot when a black Honda car driven by a 68-year-old Singaporean crashed at the parking pavement behind the Lucky Plaza that is often visited by OFWs.

Four other domestic workers were injured in the incident. Two were already discharged from hospital and two remain in critical condition at the Tan Tock Seng Hospital in Singapore. – With Ding Cervantes, Rudy Santos
