BACOLOD CITY,Philippines — Murder charges were filed on Friday against Cpl. Roger Rubio of the Negros Oriental provincial police and two others for the murder of radio broadcaster Dindo Generoso last Nov. 7 in Dumaguete City, according to Bacolod police chief Lt. Col. Wilfredo Alarcon.

Alarcon disclosed yesterday that PCol. Julian Entoma, officer-in-charge of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office, also ordered a manhunt against Rubio, who was identified as the gunman in the killing of Generoso.

The identification of Rubio as the gunman was made after the arrest of two other suspects, retired policeman Cpl. Glenn Corsame and Teddy Reyes Salaw, shortly after the killing of Generoso, 67, a  block timer of radio station dyEM Bai Radio.

Entoma also advised all operating units to proceed with caution in dealing with Rubio, a member of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company detailed at the Guihulngan City police station, who is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Salaw is also facing additional charges of illegal possession of firearms, after the arresting officers seized a .45 caliber pistol from the suspect, Alarcon said.

Entoma said investigators are still establishing the motive of the retired and active policemen in killing the broadcaster, whether it was personal to them, work-related or somebody hired them to do the killing.

Alarcon, Dumaguete City police chief, said they will subject the gun recovered from Salaw to ballistic examination, to match the empty shells recovered at the crime scene.
