MANILA, Philippines — Weather forecasters are keeping tabs on two low pressure areas spotted in Luzon, one of which is expected to develop into a tropical cyclone.

The brewing storm was last seen 1,930 kilometers east of Southern Luzon. It is forecast to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday and become a tropical cyclone.

The other weather disturbance was spotted 115 km west of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

PAGASA also said that the southwest monsoon or habagat will continue to dump rains over a large portion of Luzon.

Monsoon rains will persist over Cordillera Administrative Region and Central Luzon.

Residents of Metro Manila, Ilocos region, CALABARZON and Cagayan Valley will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the effects of the southwest monsoon.

Monsoon rains forced a number of local government units to declare class suspension for Tuesday.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers will affect the rest of the country due to localized thunderstorms. — Gaea Katreena Cabico
