Duterte accepts credentials of 6 envoys

MANILA, Philippines — President Duterte has accepted the credentials of six envoys at Malacañang, ending his hiatus from the public eye.?

The President on Tuesday welcomed resident ambassadors Alain Gaschen of Switzerland, Anke Reiffenstuel of Germany and Norman Bin Muhamad of Malaysia and non-resident Ambassadors Irakli Asashvili of Georgia, Väino Reinart of Estonia and Grenenger Kidney Msulira Banda of Malawi. He expressed hope that the Philippines would forge stronger bilateral relations with the six countries. ?

Gaschen commended Duterte for the administration’s gains in the Bangsamoro peace process and reiterated his country’s commitment to support the peace efforts. ?

Reiffenstuel noted that the relationship between Manila and Berlin is “rich” and covers  a broad range of issues including cooperation in environment, healthcare, culture and education, trade and economic cooperation.

She said Germany is ready to contribute to the ongoing transition and stabilization of conflict-affected Mindanao. ?

Norman relayed the warm greetings of the Malaysian royal couple and Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and vowed to work for the development of ties between Kuala Lumpur and Manila.  ?
