MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Wutip has slightly weakened as it continues to move closer to the Philippine area of responsibility.
State weather bureau PAGASA said in its 11 a.m. advisory on Tuesday that the weather disturbance was estimated to be located 1,970 kilometers east of Central Luzon. It continues on its path going north slowly.
It packs maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour near its center, with gustiness of up to 225 kilometers per hour.
Typhoon Wutip is expected to enter PAR on Thursday and would be given the name “Betty.”
PAGASA said that Betty does not pose direct threat to any part of the country.
