Makati RTC judge appointed to Sandiganbayan
MANILA, Philippines — President Duterte has named a new Sandiganbayan justice and a deputy commissioner of the immigration bureau.
Duterte has appointed Makati regional trial court (RTC) Judge Ronald Moreno as Sandiganbayan associate justice, replacing Alexander Gesmundo.
Moreno was appointed last June 8 but his appointment papers were released only yesterday.
Moreno finished law at the University of Santo Tomas. He was named presiding judge of the Makati RTC Branch 147 in 2012.
Moreno was also an executive judge of the Makati metropolitan trial court.
Other candidates for the Sandiganbayan post in the list submitted by the Judicial and Bar Council to Duterte were Makati RTC Judge Gina Bibat-Palamos, Sta. Cruz, Laguna RTC Judge Divinagracia Bustos-Ongkeko and Ligao, Albay RTC Judge Edwin Ma-alat.
The President also appointed Aldin Alegre as immigration deputy commissioner last Jan. 15. Alegre took over the post of Aimee Torrefranca-Neri who resigned in April last year.
