DepEd moves Christmas break from December 22 to December 15
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education moved Christmas break this year from December 22 to December 15.
The announcement was made via a memorandum released on Tuesday.
The memo said the resumption of classes would be on Jan. 2, 2019. Meanwhile, the last day of classes remains unchanged on April 5, 2019.
According to the memo signed by Education Secretary Leonor Briones, DepEd "values the importance of spending quality time with the family. The Christmas season provides an opportunity for Filipino learners to strengthen their emotional bonds with their family."

DepEd also tweeted that Briones said the department made the decision after "listening to the suggestions of the Senate, the Executive, the Congress, and the parents." — Ryan Macasero
