MANILA, Philippines - The 14th annual Golden Wheel Awards Night will be held tonight with the country’s motorsport luminaries sharing center stage at the Samsung Hall of SM Aura in Fort Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City.
Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) Motorsports Committee chairman Armando Eduque leads the roster of motorsports officials gracing the event with Golden Wheel Foundation Inc. chairman Johnny Tan announcing the recipient of the coveted Golden Wheel Driver of the Year plum from among the champion nominees of various racing disciplines.
Also gracing the event are Unified Sports and Racing Association (USRA) president Eduardo Lumague and Philippine Superbike Racing Association (SBRA) president John Defensor.
The battle for the 2016 Golden Wheel Driver of the Year will be among scooter champion John Emerson Inguito, underbone king Masato Fernando, superbikes titlist Marvin Mangulabnan, motocross champion Glenn Aguilar, slalom champion Milo Rivera, grand touring titlist Edwin Rodriguez, drag racing champion Jonathan Tiu, Classic Car champion Dexter Daquigan, 4x4 Offroad titlist Cesar Daquil, Asian Karting junior champion John Dizon, Asian Karting senior titlist and Karter of the Year Jerry Choi.
Joining the top honorees is motocross legend Dennis Acdol who will be elevated to the Hall of Fame.
Motorsports Achievement awards will be handed to Milo Rivera, Carlos Anton, Mario Borbon Jr. and Eane Jaye Sobretodo, also the recipient of the Maico Buncio Foundation Award.
The Boy Ochoa Awards will be given to top karters John Dizon, Jarred Kim and Khazart Romoff.
