UP grads dominate CPA licensure exam, Wesleyan alumnus tops board

MANILA, Philippines – The University of the Philippines emerged as the top performing school in the October 2016 Certified Public Accountant Licensure Examination, with all applicants from the university passing the exam.

Of the 14,390 examinees, UP had 69 examinees and all of them passed with a score of at least 80 percent, making them the top performing school in the CPA Licensure Examination. The University of Santo Tomas followed with 352 board passers of the 388 examinees.

Other top performing schools were De La Salle University-Manila (88.66%), Ateneo de Zamboanga (87.14%), Bicol University-Daraga (84.93%) and Far Eastern University – Manila (82.35%).

Wesleyan University-Philippines Cabanatuan City alumnus Vhinson Jay Samson Garcia topped the CPA licensure exam with a score of 94.33 percent.

He was joined by 23 others in the list of examinees with the 10 highest scores.

The CPA Licensure Examination was given by the Board of Accountancies in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan De Oro, Cebu, Davao Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena and Tacloban in October.
