Valdez new SSS chair; Jimeno appointed DPWH undersecretary

MANILA, Philippines – Former University of the East College of Law Dean Amado Valdez and lawyer Karen Jimeno were among the 124 officials who took their oaths of office before President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday afternoon.

Duterte appointed Valdez as the new chairman of the Social Security System while Jimeno was designated undersecretary for legal affairs and priority projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways.

Valdez, a lawyer with the Divina Law firm, filed a petition to disqualify Sen. Grace Poe from the presidential elections in May. On the other hand, Jimeno used to be the head of tech provider Smartmatic's Voter Education Committee.

Aside from Valdez and Jimeno, Duterte’s party mate and former Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption chair Martin Diño, also took his oath of office as the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority.

Duterte swore the 124 new officials in at the Rizal Hall in Malacañang Palace.
