PeopleAsia bares Women of Style & Substance ‘16

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - PeopleAsia names its “Women of Style & Substance” awardees in its August-September 2016 issue. Now on its 11th year, the roster honors women who possess the unique combination of good looks and great accomplishments.

Leading the list is Cannes Best Actress winner Jaclyn Jose, whose stirring performance in “Ma Rosa” made her the first Filipina to win the accolade. She revealed to writer Bum Tenorio that she won the award by “not acting.”

Joining Jaclyn are beauty queens Miss Philippines Universe Maxine Medina and Bb. Pilipinas International Kylie Verzosa – who both shared their dreams of bringing home the crown when they compete later this year.

Also on the cover are businesswomen Katrina Tantoco-Lobregat of Rustan’s and Sta. Elena Properties, Rissa Mananquil-Trillo of Happy Skin and Nikki Tang of DMark Beauty and DermaAsia Corp., who all share tips on how they balance their success with family life.

PeopleAsia also honors the first transgender legislator, Bataan First District Rep. Geraldine Roman, as the first transgender personality on the list. As PeopleAsia editor-in-chief Joanne Rae Ramirez puts it, “She achieved greater heights by being true to herself.”

Other “Women of Style & Substance” awardees include lawyer Patricia Bunye-Rojas, who is the first Filipino and Southeast Asian to become president of the global organization Licensing Executive Society International; art enthusiast, businesswoman and philanthropist Sheree Chua; Kaye Zorrilla Gamboa of Wella Philippines; fashion designer Maureen Disini-Teichert, who is known for her elegant couture and draping techniques; three-time Katha Awardee and jewelry designer Ann Ong; The Philippine STAR columnist and travel writer Christine Dayrit and Titania Wines owner Tita Trillo.

PeopleAsia also features in this issue Women of Style and Substance 2013 awardee, Vice President Leni Robredo, who shares her dreams as the country’s highest-ranking female public servant and as the housing chief of the Duterte administration.

PeopleAsia’s “Women of Style & Substance” issue is now available in leading bookstores and newsstands nationwide; and will be available on the Apple store and Google Plus this month. For more updates and information, visit peopleasia.ph or Stargate PeopleAsia on Facebook.
