MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Embassy in Beijing reminded Filipinos residing in China to be careful and take precautions amid threats caused by the pending ruling of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, Netherlands.
“Nais paalalahanan ng Pasuguan/Embahada ng Pilipinas ang mga Pilipino sa Tsina na maging maingat sa mga banta sa inyong sarili o kaya’y mga ariarian dahil sa kasalukuyang sitwasyong usaping politikal,” the embassy said in an announcement released Saturday.
As the Philippines await the ruling on its case against China, the embassy advised Filipinos to monitor news reports and embassy announcements. The embassy also asked them to avoid gathering to talk about political issues in public to avoid further tension.
“Do not join discussions or debates about political issues, especially on social media networks,” it advised.
As a precaution, the embassy advised Filipinos to bring their passport or residence permits at all times and report any incident to their assistance to nationals hotline at + 86 139 1118 0495 or the Chinese police hotline 110.
