Bongbong gets One Cebu endorsement

MANILA, Philippines – Vice Presidential candidate and Se. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Wednesday earned the support of One Cebu party.

Cebu Fourth District Rep. Benhur Salimbangon said the heads of National Unity Party (NUP) in the fourth district of Cebu, also members of the Once Cebu party, are one in backing Marcos’s vice presidential bid.

Salimbangon asked a 2,000-strong crowd gathered at the municipality of Bantayan who their vice president is and they responded “Bongbong Marcos.”

Marcos was in Cebu for the second time in campaign upon Salimbangon's invitation.

On the other hand, the host of the event in the vote-rich Cebu, Bantayan Mayor Ian Escario, said his family is a loyal supporter of the Marcoses.

"I am the third-generation of Escarios. My grandparents and my parents have been loyal Marcos supporters. I told our people that if they still trust me, we should all unite to support Sen. Bongbong Marcos for vice president,” Escario  said.

Officials present during the event were former Vice Mayor Dori Cabrera, Romeo Villaceran, and NUP-One Cebu mayoralty candidates for the towns of Madridejos and Sta Fe.

Marcos thanked the people of Bantayan for their endorsement and support.

"I am happy that I’m able to go back here and be with all of you again,” Marcos said.

Marcos last week expressed hopes of getting the endorsement of Once Cebu Party led by the influential Garcia clan, admitting he already had talks with the bloc.

The senator also held his campaign last March 18 seeking to woo 2.7 million registered voters of Cebu. During which, he also earned the endorsement of Cordova Mayor Adelino Sitoy.
