Grace Poe: My life is full of drama

MANILA, Philippines - Sen. Grace Poe admitted that her life is "full of drama" as she launched her presidential campaign on Tuesday.

"Marahil nga ay madrama ang buhay ko dahil, tulad ng karamihan sa ating mga kababayan, may pinagdaanan akong hirap at pait," Poe said as she spoke before the crowd at Plaza Miranda in Manila.

Poe noted that some are questioning her citizenship status and her lack of experience in public office to be qualified to run for president.

"Drama nga siguro ang tawag nila dito subalit realidad at tunay na buhay ko ito," the presidential candidate said.

The senator launched her campaign at the Quiapo Church as it is also where her father, the late Fernando Poe Jr., launched his presidential bid in 2004.

Poe also noted that the story of her life began inside a church. She was found on the doorstep of the Jaro Cathedral in Iloilo 48 years ago.

"Nagsimula ang kwento ng aking buhay sa isang simbahan. Kaya minarapat ko rin na sa tapat ng simbahan ilunsad ang susunod na kabanata ng buhay ko," the senator said.

During her speech, Poe vowed to address the issues on education, crime, health care, poverty, corruption, traffic, infrastructure, basic social services and others.

"Puno na ang salop ng kahirapan, puno na ang salop ng katiwalian. Dapat na itong kalusin. Ipaglaban natin na ang bawat isa ay may pagkain, may hanap buhay, may edukasyon at may kalinga," Poe said.

Poe's running mate, Sen. Francis "Chiz" Escudero, was also present at the kick-off rally of the Partido Galing at Puso.

The Poe-Escudero senatorial slate consists of Valenzuela Rep. Sherwin Gatchalian, actor Edu Manzano, lawyer Lorna Kapunan, Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Colmenares, Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno, ACT-CIS Rep. Samuel Pagdilao, Pasig Rep. Roman Romulo, OFW rights advocate Susan "Toots" Ople, former Sen. Richard "Dick" Gordon, Sen. Ralph Recto, Sen. Tito Sotto and former Sen. Migz Zubiri.
