Cops preparing sketch of PDAF foe’s killer

MANILA, Philippines – Police are preparing a composite sketch of the killer of Quintin “Ting” Paredes San Diego, one of the petitioners against the pork barrel of lawmakers, who was gunned down in his resort in Dingalan, Aurora last Saturday afternoon.

Chief Superintendent Rudy Lacadin, Central Luzon Police director, said investigators are coordinating with the family of San Diego to get more information that could lead to the identities of the attackers.

San Diego, 74, had just met with his workers and was walking back to his cottage at the Maligaya Resort in Barangay Caragsacan when he was shot by one of two suspects last Nov. 7.

“A composite facial sketch of the suspect will be available soon,” Lacadin told The STAR.

Lacadin said a special investigation task group is still gathering leads on the case.

“Details will be available within the next few days because the family members are not available for investigation at present. The alleged revolutionary taxation issue still needs further investigation,” he added.

San Diego was shot four times in the head with a 9mm pistol. The two suspects fled on a motorcycle.

Sources said that all possible motives, particularly his advocacies are among the issues being looked into by investigators.

San Diego was the lead convenor of the August 26 People’s Coalition, which sprung from the Million People’s March to Rizal Park on Aug. 26, 2013 against the pork barrel or Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) of lawmakers.

MAD was one of the petitioners in the case brought before the Supreme Court against PDAF. On Nov. 19, 2013, the SC declared the PDAF unconstitutional.

San Diego was the son of the late Lourdes Babila Paredes, the first female justice of the Court of Appeals. As a regional trial court judge, Lourdes Paredes had convicted the scions of prominent families who raped actress Maggie de la Riva.

Paredes was the daughter of the late Senate president Quintin Paredes, a native of Abra.
