Jinggoy urged to run for vice president in 2016

MANILA, Philippines - Officers of the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) in Mindanao urged yesterday detained Sen. Jinggoy Estrada to run for vice president in 2016.

Elias Bayabao, PMP Lanao del Sur chairman, said Mindanaoans would support Estrada if he decides to run for vice president.

Bayabao noted that former President and now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada won in Mindanao in the 2010 elections.

“Senator Estrada should seek the vice presidency to protect the interest of the poor,” he said.

The PMP is all set for next year’s elections with daily swearing in of new party officials and members down to the municipal level.

Party leaders from the Visayas urged the PMP to field a vice presidential candidate in 2016.

Senator Estrada is the president of PMP.

He said PMP is the “only political party with genuine pro-poor agenda that promotes the welfare of the masses.”

Estrada has championed the cause of the marginalized sector and economic advancement of Mindanao.
