MANILA, Philippines - Interior Secretary Manuel "Mar" Roxas II on Wednesday wished Sen. Grace Poe "good luck" on her presidential bid for the 2016 elections.
Roxas, the presumptive presidential candidate of the Liberal Party, earlier asked Poe to be his running mate for the forthcoming elections.
The Interior secretary said in a statement said that he received a text message from Poe a few hours before she announced her candidacy.
"She thanked me for my patience and understanding in considering her as my running mate. I thanked her and wished her good luck," Roxas said.
Poe announced her bid for the presidency on Wednesday night, citing that nobody has a monopoly of pursuing the "Tuwid na Daan" or straight path in the government.
Meanwhile, Sen. Francis "Chiz" Escudero, the possible running mate of Poe, is set to announce his political plans for the 2016 polls on Thursday morning.
