Go Negosyo holds 1st Agri Summit

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Go Negosyo is conducting today its first Agri-Negosyo Summit.

In keeping with its advocacy of helping build the Philippines as an entrepreneurial nation, Go Negosyo launched the summit to present to aspiring and existing agripreneurs the wealth of opportunities and profitable ventures in this sector, particularly on its higher value-adding segments and by making use of practical high-yielding technologies, processes and seed varieties.

Go Negosyo aims to maximize the potentials in the agriculture sector, recognizing that about two-thirds of the population are in agricultural areas, and almost 40 percent of the economy and 60 percent of total employment can be attributed to this sector, including agri-suppliers and agri-processing industries.

The summit today expects over 4,000 delegates, composed of aspiring and existing entrepreneurs and youth representatives from over 100 schools and universities who registered.

The summit will feature presentations and panel discussions with distinguished resource persons from the government, agribusinesses and agri-enabling institutions.

Sen. Cynthia Villar, Senate committee chairman on food and agriculture, and Secretary Francis Pangilinan, presidential consultant on food security and agricultural modernization, will attend today’s program.

The summit will also have New Zealand Ambassador Reuben Levermore, who will share his country’s program in helping the Philippine agriculture sector.

CARD-MRI founder and CEO Jaime Aristotle Alip and other successful agripreneurs will also be in the program to share advice with the audience.
