(UPDATE) 2 killed, 2 injured by lightning in Ilocos

MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - Two people were killed and two others injured after being struck by lightning in two separate incidents in northern Philippines, the state disaster agency said today.

Bonifacio Fabro, 23, was declared dead on arrival in a hospital while his two other companions were hurt when lightning hit them when they were working on a rice field on Wednesday afternoon in Lantag village in Sta. Cruz town, Ilocos Sur province, said National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Executive Director Alexander Pama.

On the same day, Edmundo Laroya, 26, was also electrocuted due to lightning while working on a rice field in Inabaan Norte village, Rosario town in La Union province, he said.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but was also declared dead on arrival, Pama said.
