MANILA, Philippines - President Benigno Aquino III has declared January 31 as a national special non-working holiday in celebration of the Chinese New Year.
Aquino cited the huge Chinese-Fllipino population in the country as basis for the declaration.
The Department of Labor and Employment, meanwhile, has guidelines for companies and employers on pay rules applicable to the special non-working holiday on Friday.
