MANILA, Philippines - The wife of slain mass killer Ronald Bae yesterday appealed for forgiveness for her husband’s killing spree last Friday.

“I beg you to please forgive our family. We are not part of this crime. We are also a victim here of my husband,” Maria Elena Aguilar Bae said in a television interview.

Elena, a resident of Guagua, Pampanga, said she too, was a victim of Bae’s violence.

She claimed Bae would often beat her up and once threatened to shoot her dead.

Elena admitted they had a quarrel just before her husband went on a rampage in Kawit, Cavite. But she denied having abandoned him.

Pampanga police director Senior Superintendent R’win Pagkalinawan said his men went to the known residence of the Bae family in Purok 6, Sitio Ascomo in Barangay Pulong Masle but found the house locked.

Pagkalinawan said neighbors told the police that Elena and their kids had moved to Kawit. – Mike Frialde, Ding Cervantes
