2 nursing board members fired for 2006 exam leak

MANILA, Philippines - The Office of the Ombudsman has ordered the dismissal of two members of the Board of Nurses of the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) for allegedly leaking board exam test questions to two review centers five years ago.

Ordered dismissed for grave misconduct were Anesia Buenafe-Dionisio and Virginia Diolola-Madeja.

In its investigation, the ombudsman said most of the test questions prepared by Dionisio reached the reviewers of the RA Gapuz Review Center and INRESS.

Investigators said her defense that she lost her manuscript was self-serving and inconceivable considering that she did not even report such loss to appropriate authorities.

The Office of the Ombudsman also accused Madeja of gross inexcusable neglect for causing the “premature and unauthorized” disclosure of her proposed questions to some nursing board reviewers.

The controversy had cast doubt on the integrity of the 2006 nursing board examinations.
