P1M worth of Ecstasy pills seized

Some P1 million worth of "Ecstasy" pills were seized by anti-drug police agents in two separate buy-bust operations in Mandaluyong and Pasig last Saturday and Wednesday night.

Two suspected drug pushers identified as Edgar Fajaro, of 1945 Meralco Avenue, Pasig City and Richard Ley, of 677 Notre dame St., Wack Wack Subdivision, Mandaluyong City were also arrested in the operations.

Ecstasy, a designer drug from the Netherlands is now becoming popular among teenagers frequenting disco houses in Makati and Quezon City for the reported sensual high it gives its users.

Known scientifically as methylenedixy methamphetamine, Ecstasy comes in either tablet or capsule form and fetches at least P1,500 a piece.

Pajaro was the first to fall after agents of the national police anti-narcotics group chemical division investigation division nabbed him as he was delivering 444 Ecstasy tablets to an undercover police agent at about 1:00 a.m. near the Gutson's Billard Hall along Meralco Avenue.

Also seized from Pajaro were three Mogadon tablets, a small canister containing dried marijuana leaves, 34 capsules believed to be containing Ecstasy and a plastic sachet containing a white powder suspected to be Ketamine, another banned substance. Police also impounded Pajaro's white Nissan Sentra sedan with plate number DNF-5886 believed to be used in his drug deals.

Last Saturday, police arrested Ley during a buy-bust operation at about 9:00 p.m. along Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong City. --
