MANILA, Philippines — Forty years is a remarkable span in the life of a newspaper.

It is long enough to remember mornings when newspapers arrived on doorsteps before sunrise, and to embrace an age when news reaches millions in an instant through a screen.

Through every transformation – political, social, cultural and technological – one responsibility has remained unchanged: the pursuit of truth.

As The Philippine STAR marks its 40th anniversary, it does so not just by celebrating the years that have passed, but by reaffirming the purpose that has guided every headline, every investigation, every photograph, and every editorial decision since its founding – it is WHERE TRUTH SHINES.

This is more than the theme of this anniversary. It is a declaration of who we have been, who we strive to be, and who we must continue becoming.

RETROSPECTIVE: TRUTH BEGINS FROM WITHIN
Our first pillar, Retrospective, pays tribute to those individuals whose dedication built the foundation upon which The Philippine STAR stands today.
The stories revisit the newspaper’s founding during the hopeful days following the restoration of democracy; recall the vision and courage of its founders; and trace the evolution of a young newsroom into one of the country’s most respected
journalistic institutions.
