MANILA, Philippines — Narvacan, Ilocos Sur Mayor Luis "Chavit" Singson explained why he almost fell asleep on the shoulder of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, as seen on a viral video described by many Internet users as "Galawang Chavit."
According to Chavit, he lacked sleep due to jet lag. He was very sleepy during the recent fight of Sen. Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas, where the video clip was shot.
"Sabi ko, 'Sorry ha, tinulugan ko beauty mo,' kako sa kaniya. Tawa nang tawa," Chavit has been quoted by ABS-CBN News as saying.
"Kararating lang namin, hindi ako nakatulog so jet lag. Nagising naman agad. Hindi lang umabot," he explained
Chavit assured the beauty queen did not mind what happened and even told him: "Hindi okay lang, next time ako naman matutulog sa iyo."
Chavit and Miss Universe Organization, in which he is a business partner, brought Catriona to Vegas to watch Manny's fight with American boxer Keith Thurman.
In the 10-second video shot in Manny's locker room in MGM Grand Garden Arena, Catriona can be seen busy with her smartphone, while Chavit looks like taking a nap while they were sitting beside each other. It can be seen that Chavit was slowly turning to Catriona’s shoulder, but he suddenly woke up.
The video was taken from a clip from the live stream broadcast of PBC ON FOX via YouTube channel.
