Katarina Rodriguez, other beauty queens join Miss World Philippines

MANILA, Philippines — Beauty queens from other contests are now crossing over to the Miss World pageant as they bid to become the Philippines’ representative for the pageant’s 2018 edition.

Fresh from representing the country in Miss InterContinental where she won first runner-up last January in Egypt, Katarina Rodriguez is now looking forward to become the country’s representative in Miss World 2018.

On her Instagram post, Katarina said “2018, the year where I told myself to take a deep breath, pull up my sleeves, and get out of my comfort zone. Tara na, World!

“A million dreams for the World we’re gonna make,” she wrote in another post.

After winning the Century Tuna Superbods last summer, reports said Filipina-French Maureen Montagne auditioned for Miss World Philippines 2018.

Crowned as Miss Earth Air 2017, former “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate Kim De Guzman posted on her Instagram account that she is “ready to face the world.” In another post, she thanked Miss Earth for a wonderful opportunity.

Miss World Philippines 2016 First Princess Arienne Calingo also declared that she will be joining this year’s pageant for the last time, hoping that she would finally bag the title crown.

On her Instagram post, Arienne said she feels like a completely different person now than in 2016.

“I am more relaxed, more mature, and more focused. There is still a lot more I want and need to improve and I’m determined more than ever,” she wrote.

“To have the opportunity to represent our beautiful country on an international level would be an honor and a blessing. This is my last try, and I promise to try my best for Pampanga, for the Philippines, and sana for the World,” she added.

Miss Manila 2017 Maria Gail Devora Tobes also hinted about joining Miss World Philippines 2018, as she said in a post on her Instagram account.

“My reign as Miss Manila 2017 may have ended, but MY PURPOSE WONT! I hope i could share and explore much more purpose with the Philippines and the World,” she wrote.

Also joining this year's Miss World Philippines is Alyssa Muhlach, the daughter of actress Almira Muhlach and former basketball star Bong Alvarez.
