MANILA, Philippines — Actress Maxene Magalona tied the knot with musician Robby Mananquil in a beachfront ceremony at the Shangri-La resort in Boracay on January 11.
The wedding had a whitewashed theme, with the bride wearing a simple Vera Wang sweetheart dress.
The couple’s entourage, including celebrities Elmo Magalona, Julia Montes, and sisters Megan and Lauren Young, all wore white and blended in with the couple. Prior to the wedding, the couple hosted a colorful, festival-inspired, beachfront pre-wedding party.
Also in attendance were singer Gary Valenciano as principal sponsor, Elmo’s love team partner Janella Salvador, actor Mikael Daez and TV host Tim Yap.
In a previous interview, Maxene said that while marrying abroad has been a trend among celebrities, she really wants to get hitched in the Philippines because her father, the late actor and rapper Francis Magalona, was buried here. She knows how much her father loves the Philippines, as reflected in his patriotic songs.
As homage to her father, Maxene had a locket with Francis M’s picture attached into her bouquet, designed by event stylist Teddy Manuel. During the wedding march, she also had one of her dad’s hits, “Girl Be Mine,” playing on the background.
According to Maxene's sister, Saab, Maxene and Robby already had a private church ceremony on Monday prior to their beach wedding.
