MANILA, Philippines — Jason Momoa, who played Khal Drogo in hit HBO series "Game of Thrones," caused a social media uproar on Thursday for an alleged "rape joke."

Momoa was under fire in Twitter after a video footage of him resurfaces. The clip was taken at the 2011 Comic Con, an annual comics conference in California.

In the video, Momoa is shown as saying, "But as far as sci-fi and fantasy, I love that genre. There's so many things you can do, like rip someone's tongue out of their throat and get away with it...rape a beautiful woman, you know?"

The actor has since apologized, saying in an Instagram statement: “I awoke in Australia to the justified reactions by many people to a distasteful joke I made years ago in Hall H for which I am sorry. I am still severely disappointed in myself at the insensitivity of my remarks that day. I know my sincerest apology won’t take away those hurtful words. Rape and sexual harassment can reach anyone and I have seen first-hand its painful torment among members of my own family and friends."

The "rape joke" video came following accusations of sexual assault and rape versus Hollywood film mogul Harvey Weinstein by Hollywood A-list actresses like Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow and Cara Delevigne.

On Friday, a day after Momoa's video went viral, Warner Bros. released a featurette showing Momoa as half man, half Atlantean Aquaman in "Justice League."

Find out more about the rightful King of Atlantis in the new Justice League featurette titled “Arthur Curry aka Aquaman,” which has just been launched by Warner Bros.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

"Justice League" features Batman/Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman/Diana Prince (Gal Gadot), Flash/Barry Allen (Ezra Miller), Cyborg/Victor Stone (Ray Fisher), and Aquaman/Arthur Curry (Momoa).

In its latest trailer, Lois Lane is still longing for Clark Kent aka Superman after he died in the hands of Doomsday in the last “Batman vs Superman” movie. But Lois is not the only one longing for the superhero as the Earth becoming more dangerous to criminals.

Bruce Wayne told Diana Prince that he has been dreaming of something dark to the world so he will assemble a group that will battle the evil Steppenwolf and his army of Parademon. The villains are looking for the three Mother Boxes on Earth

Batman put together the "Justice League" composed of him, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, The Flash and Aquaman.

“The world needs Superman. I made him a promise, which is why I’ve brought you together,” Batman is heard as speaking in the latest trailer.

Directed by Zack Snyder and screenplay of Chris Terrio and Joss Whedon, “Justice League” is the second movie of DC Extend Universe this year after the successful “Wonder Woman” headlined by Gal Gadot.

Affleck will still suit for the Batman while Ezra Miller, Credence Barbone of “Fantastic Beast and Where To Find Them,” is The Flash; and the new actor Ray Fisher will be playing Cyborg.

In time for the movie, 7-Eleven offers a special edition "Justice League" fidget spinner.

“We are happy to bring these Justice League heroes to the hands of our customers. With these spinners, we’re bringing your favorite comic book heroes closer to you,” Philippine Seven Corporation president and Chief Executive Officer Jose Victor Paterno said.

"Justice League" is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
