Christian Bables is not shy to admit that he’s a fan of Finally Found Someone lead stars John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo, whose respective careers are evidently on a continuous upward trajectory.
That’s why, he felt doubly happy when he passed the auditions to play one of the supporting characters of the two stars’ reunion movie. Christian has definitely hit two birds with one stone, so to speak.
According to Christian, there was an invite for him to come to Star Cinema offices to audition.
“At first, I was hesitant to go,” says Christian. “Before Die Beautiful (where his portrayal of Barbs, the transgender best friend of Paolo Ballesteros’ Trisha, had won for him a Best Supporting Actor award in last year’s Metro Manila Filmfest), sobrang ano ako sa rejections sa auditions simply because hindi ako kilala, walang name.”
But his feet led him to the venue of the tryout, clueless that he would bag the role of Noah Alcala. No wonder, Christian felt like he’s on Cloud 9 upon learning that he will be working with his idols on the big screen.
“I was very happy when this was offered to me,” enthuses Christian. “Tapos yung kay Ate Sarah, nakakatuwa rin dahil Popster po ako.”
He continues, “As a fan, unimaginable ’yung pagka-bait ni Ate Sarah and Kuya Lloydie because when I was just starting (in showbiz), I was wondering, tao kaya sila?”

His admiration for John Lloyd is genuine. He knows how the Kapamilya star values his work so much in the acting department. He always makes it a point to deliver in every acting project there is, whether it’s for TV or movie.
“In all the acting workshops that I’ve attended, we would always watch his movies to observe and study his kind of acting. Now, we are together in one movie kaya sobrang nakakatuwa. He would give me tips and advices in acting and in life.”
The 24-year-old actor can also attest how John Lloyd and Sarah keep their feet firmly planted on the ground. The two, he says, are humble, kind and sincere.
“Si Ate Sarah, ate ko siya. Ang sarap sa pakiramdam na itong malalaking taong ito ay may oras at puso na makipagkwentuhan sa kagaya ko na baguhan pa lang,” he shares.
Christian also delights at the fact that his role no longer required him to wear all things feminine. “It feels good (to play a straight guy) kasi di ako naka-heels at hindi na ko naka-panty dito,” he quips.
Interestingly, Christian honestly reveals that he, in his exact words, is “still in search” when asked how he would know that he has finally found someone.
“Siguro di ko pa po ma-define kung ano yung the one ko. Kumbaga, di ko pa alam kung kailan at saan kasi I’m still searching for the right meaning.”
In one interview, Christian said that he had just broken up with his girlfriend before shooting started for Die Beautiful to whom he had invested so much of his feelings.
He also mentioned that he is the type who takes love seriously to the point of envisioning himself and his lady love ending at the altar.
Finally Found Someone, a co-production of Star Cinema and Viva Films, opens on July 26 in theaters.
