MANILA, Philippines – BB Gandanghari on Thursday rejoiced after a court in the United States recognized her legally as a woman.
BB shared the news on her Instagram account on Thursday. Her identity has been changed from Rustom Padilla to Binibini Gandanghari.
"This is it! And I thought this day would never come. And I thank my GOD and my LORD for making these things happen. Everything makes sense now... and to this great country the United States of America for providing this #basicrhumanright... Thank you!!!," her caption wrote.
In 2013, BB revealed she signs documents as BB Gandanghari but sometimes with an a.k.a. Rustom Padilla in her credit card, identification card, among others. However, after the Los Angeles court approved changes in her name and gender to female, she can now legally do so without mentioning her previous male identity.
BB filed her identity change request last August 2016 before the Orange County Courthouse.
BB is a former action star but decided to come out in 2006 at the ABS-CBN reality TV show, Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity edition.
